Employee relationship management & Technology
Employee relationship management (ERM) constitutes an emerging trend of managing human resources by building and maintaining individualized and mutually valuable relationships with employees based on information technology.
Today ERM has developed and automated into systems and cloud-based platforms with many features allowing the companies to better manage its employees than before. ERM has derived from Customer Relationship Management (CRM). In the same way, a customer is important to the company, an employee is also very important to the company. Thus companies are investing more into ERM to manage the relationship between the employee and management in a more proactive approach.
Why employee relationship management is important
The number one reason why employees resign from their job is because of the relationship with their manager and coworkers. When the relationship between the manager and employee is strained, there are two possible outcomes. One, the employee quits. Or two, the employee stays and the relationship is seriously strained. Here’s the bottom line, maintaining a strong employer and employee relationship is crucial to the company’s success. A positive relationship only leads to more productivity, more efficiency, less conflict, and low turnover.
